The DR Class 50.50 is a class of 70 2-10-0 "Decapod" type steam locomotives that were rebuilds of 72 DRG Class 50.35 steam locomotives between 1966 and 1971 for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in East Germany.

History[]

Between 1966 and 1971, a total of 72 Class 50.35 locomotives were converted to burn oil instead of coal and were re-designated into what had eventually became the Class 50.50. From the introduction of the Electronic Data Processing (EDP) numbers in 1970, the class was given operating numbers of #50 0001 through #50 0072.

The class was withdrawn from service and all but one locomotive was scrapped, this said survivor was No. 50 0072, which is currently at the Bavarian Railway Museum (German translation: Bayerischen Eisenbahnmuseum) in Nördlingen.
