Conrail No. 5044 was a diesel locomotive that was involved in the 1987 Chase, Maryland train collision. it was converted into CSX 5801, Then it was sold to Estrada de ferro Vitoria-Minas, where it was regauged to 1000mm gauge tracks and renumbered again as BB36-7 No. 740, it was sold again to Valor de Logística Integrada (VLI), being repainted and retaining it's number 740, It still operates to this day.
