The Chesapeake & Ohio No. 492 was a streamlined 4-6-4 'Hudson' steam locomotive. It was originally built by the American Locomotive Company in 1926 as a 4-6-2 'Pacific', but was later rebuilt by the railroad's own shops in 1947 as a stainless steel, streamlined Hudson, and was reclassified as a L-1.
The locomotive was used on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and spent its career hauling passenger trains.
The engine was retired in 1953, and the streamlined engine was then scrapped.
