Chesapeake & Ohio 2732 is a class K4 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built by Alco in 1943 for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway.

The locomotive was bough by the southern railway to replace Texas & pacific 610

Like the other C&O 2-8-4s, it was in dual service, hauling fast freights and frequently deputizing on passenger trains prior to the onslaught of diesels.

Today it is on display in the grounds of the Science Museum of Virginia on W Broad St in downtown Richmond, VA.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of a second order for twenty-six also from Alco in 1944 (#2714-#2739).
  • The sound of it's whistle was used in Thomas & Friends for the character Marion.
