Central of Georgia No. 201 was an EMD SD7 diesel locomotive that was built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for the Central of Georgia Railway (CofG) in May 1953.

History[]

Central of Georgia No. 201 was constructed in May 1953 by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD), and it was delivered to the Central of Georgia Railway (CofG) that same year in 1953. It was the sole example of an EMD SD7 diesel locomotive that was ever ordered by the Central of Georgia Railway (CofG) themselves.

Then it was renumbered by the CofG themselves as 197 until it was passed onto the Southern Railway where it would be renumbered as 201 and then 197 again, then it was sold to Vintage Locomotives Inc. where it retained its number of 197.

It was retired from active service and was eventually donated to the Virginia Museum of Transportation where it still resides there to this day.
