Central Pacific No. 233 is a 2-6-2T built in 1882 by the CP Sacramento Shops for the Central Pacific railroad and was used as a switcher on the Central Pacific railroad.
In 1914, it was Sold to the M.F. Brady Co. at Portland, OR then 3 years later in 1917, it was Sold to the Oregon Portland Cement Co.
In 1938, the locomotive was sold to the California-Nevada Railroad Historical Society at Oakland, CA.
In 1972, it was donated to the Pacific Locomotive Association.
Today the locomotive is stored at the California State Railroad Museum.
