EMD SDP45

An example of a former Erie SDP45 during the 1970's, with an SD45 coupled behind.

The EMD SDP45 was a road switcher diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division of La Grange, Illinois for several railroads.

The SDP45 was a passenger version of the freight-hauling EMD SD45 but on a stretched locomotive frame with an extended, squared-off long hood at the rear, aft of the radiators, giving enough space for a steam generator to be placed into for the heating on passenger trains.
