The Canadian Pacific Class G5d was a class of 4-6-2 "Pacific" type steam locomotives that were built by the Canadian Locomotive Company for the Canadian Pacific Railway.
History[]
A total of 30 examples of the Canadian Pacific Class G5d were ever constructed by the Canadian Locomotive Company and they were all delivered to the Canadian Pacific Railway after they were constructed.
Retirement of the class has occurred and only 25 examples were scrapped, leaving five examples in the preservation era.
Accidents and Incidents[]
- On June 16, 1995, Canadian Pacific No. 1278 was involved in a Boiler Explosion where it suffered a backdraft explosion in the firebox at the Gettysburg Railroad in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as of today, it is currently on static display where it will likely never run again.
