Canadian National No. 9000 was an constructed in May 1948 by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) and it was delivered to the Canadian National Railway that same year in 1948. It was one of six EMD F3 locomotives delivered to the Canadian National Railway (specifically A-B-A sets).
It was retired from active service on Canadian National in October 1971 after clocking a total of 2.5 million miles in revenue service and donated to the Alberta Railway Museum in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
