Canadian National No. 1533 is an H-6-d class 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler" type steam locomotive built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1911 for the Canadian National Railway (CN), originally numbered as 264. The locomotive first worked for the CN where it mainly hauled fright trains. It was later renumbered to 1533 in 1956.
In 1962, the locomotive was sold to the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, PA. It was the railroad's main steam-powered workhorse until December 1975 when it was taken out of service for a complete overhaul, but the railroad never had the funds. Therefore it was officially retired from excursion service in favor of former Lancaster & Chester 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type locomotive No. 40.
As of today, it is stored behind the New Hope & Ivyland's shop complex in New Hope, PA awaiting a possible restoration back to operating condition. However, having fallen victim to rust and corrosion from the outdoor elements, it's currently unlikely it'll ever run again anytime soon due to the fact that it would be very costly for it to be fully restored again by the railroad.
