No.34 is a 0-8-2 rack rail side tank steam locomotive.

History[]

No.34 was built in 1906 by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine company of Switzerland as builder's number 1744 for the Damas Hama et Prolongement (DHP). The Lebanese section of the DHP network made up of four lines became CEL (Chemin de Fer de l'État Libanais) or in English the Lebanese State Railways in 1960/61. No.34 retained it's DHP number of 34 until being withdrawn from service in the 1970s when steam was slowly fazed out. No.34 currently resides next to a shed in Rayak in a derelict condition.[1][2][3]
