Engine No. 4990 is a Class "O-1a" 2-8-2 'Mikado' type steam locomotive. It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Pennsylvania in 1923 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad where it used to worked hauling freight trains for much of it's career.
Engine No. 4990 was ordered and used by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad to haul freight trains until the end of their steam operations in 1960 when it was retired.
Shortly after the locomotive was sold for scrap in June 1961, one year later.
