The Burlington Zephyr is the Fastest Passenger Train For The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railway.
History[]
Built in 1939 as #9908 it is named "Silver Charger", after the General's Horse with bodywork and passenger cars by the Budd Company and engine, transmission, power truck and other equipment by EMD for the CB&Q railroad.
The engine is Now Part Of The Collection Of The Museum Of Transportation In St. Louis, Missouri Side-By-Side With Frisco No. 1621.
Trivia[]
- It was the ninth and last of the CB&Q's Zephyrs, one of the largest and most famous fleets of streamliners in the US.
- It looks much identical to the Pioneer Zephyr which is on display at the Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
- The Silver Charger is a type of locomotive called an EMD AA.
