Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal No. 14 is an 0-6-0 tank engine built in 1920 by H. K. Porter for the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal Railway.
This locomotive was design to work as a switch engine for the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal shunting freight cars and passenger cars.
In 1966 it was retired from service and it was put in storage at the Black River & Western Railroad.
It is now a public display at the Ulster & Delaware Railroad Historical Society in Arkville, NY.
Trivia[]
- The locomotive made a cameo appearance in the holiday special of Shining Time Station during the music video "The Hobo Song".
- According to Frank Vitale, the director of the music videos for the show, in his and his partner Rick Spencer's interview with Sodor Island Fansite, in order to make the locomotive look like it was moving, due to the fact that the engine was on static display, they had two ATVs underneath the boxcar it was attached to, thus making the box car rock side to side, along with a smoke machine and a fan to blow the mist to create the illusion of movement and two people with tree branches running by the lights to make moving shadows from the moonlight, all of which was aided by the moving camera.
- This is one of 5 surviving tank engines for the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal railroad.
