British Rail Class 58 No. 58022 is a British Rail Class 58 diesel locomotive that was built by British Rail Engineering Limited as well as Doncaster Works for British Rail on December 31, 1984.

History[]

British Rail Class 58 No. 58022 was constructed on December 31, 1984, by British Rail Engineering Limited as well as Doncaster Works and it was delivered to British Rail in 1985, it was one of 50 British Rail Class 58 diesel locomotives ordered by British Rail themselves.

When British Rail went defunct in 1997, all of the 58s were passed onto the English, Welsh and Scottish Railway‎ (EWS) (now known as DB Cargo UK) and its unknown if it was used by EWS or not. It was retired from active service on March 11, 2002, and has survived into the preservation era, a total of 36 British Rail Class 58 locomotives were exported to France and Spain, No. 58022 would not be one of them.

No. 58022 was purchased by the Ivatt Diesel Re-Creation Society to be dismantled after the Ivatt Diesel Re-Creation Society had formed their project to rebuild LMS No. 10000.[1] As of today, the current status of No. 58022 is that both cabs as well as the prime mover have since been removed.[2]
