British Rail Class 45 No. 45015 was a British Rail Class 45 diesel locomotive constructed by Derby Works on November 24, 1960 that was delivered to British Rail that same year.
As British Rail D14, the locomotive was delivered to Derby (17A) depot, but by the end of December and was transferred to Leeds Holbeck (55A) for crew training. So began a 23 year association with the Eastern Region. Allocation shuffles over February 1961 saw the locomotive move to Neville Hill (55H), Gateshead (52A), Neville Hill again and finally back to Holbeck in December 1962.
On December 12th, 1970, D14 was repainted in BR Rail Blue with a full yellow cab front, and in March 1974, D14 was later renumbered to 45015 under the TOPS program and was reallocated to York (YK) for a short time, and thence to Tinsley (TI) in March 1979. The locomotive's last run commenced in March 1984 to Toton (TO) in Nottinghamshire where it remained until it was withdrawn from active service in March 1986 after serving on the lines operated by British Rail for a total of 26 years.
After being withdrawn, No. 45015 was donated to the Battlefield Line Railway and was stored in a siding at Shackerstone in 2002 and was left there neglected for decades. Due to its poor condition from being overgrown and infested with asbestos, algae and lichen, it was deemed unrestorable and was scrapped in November 2021.
