Locomotive Wiki

Need to find time to put the full story but here's the summary: Built in 1892 for the B&M by the Manchester Locomotive Works, it worked as 494 until 1911, where it was renumbered to 905. In its later years it pulled coal trains to the Mount Washington Cog Railway. It was retired in 1938 and a year later it was restored to its "as built" condition for the New York World's Fair. After it ended in 1940, It was put into storage, before a strange event regarding ownership happened in 1955. Patrick B. McGinnis (President of the B&M) offers the locomotive to Nelson Blount (Locomotive Enthusiast and Millionaire) for Steamtown, U.S.A. Workers at the B&M's Billerica Workshops caught wind of this and wanted it close to it's old stomping grounds. In a coordinated effort, they moved the locomotive up to Portsmouth, NH, and got a Central Vermont Railroad shunter to move it from B&M trackage to CV trackage. They then gave it to the town of Hartford, who put it in White River Junction, where it resides to this day.
