New York Central No. 1297 was a class D-1a 4-6-6T type steam locomotive built in 1928 by the Schenectady plant of the American locomotive company and was originally delivered to the Boston & Albany railroad as #402 while working on the suburban routes in Boston, MA.

It was later renumbered as #1297 while it was later sold to the New York Central railroad in 1951, and operated until it was sold for scrap later that same year.
