The Baldwin Class 12-32 ¼ E was a series of 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works specifically for Short-line railroads and logging companies of the 1920s.

The class was designed in the 1920s specifically for Short-line railroads and logging companies of the 1920s.
These locomotives had 44-inch diameter driving wheels, a tractive effort ranging between 22,069 lbf. - 30,000 lbf. (98.2 - 133.4 kN), boiler pressure of 180 psi (1.24 MPa), 17-in x 24-in to 19-in x 24-in cylinders, and they weighed in ranging between 64 to 76 tons (105 - 110 tons with tender).
The class was retired from service and all, but six examples were scrapped.
Preservation[]
Today, at least seven locomotives have survived to this day, these locomotives are:
- Mexicano Del Pacifico #4 on static display at Los Mochis, SIN, Mexico.
- Sumter & Choctaw #102 on static display at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- California Western #45 in operational condition at the California Western Railroad in Fort Bragg, California.
- W.T. Carter & Bros Lumber Company #1 on static display at the Burlington - Rock Island Railroad Museum in Teague, Texas.
- Dierks Lumber & Coal Company #226 which is currently awaiting a restoration at the ES&NA Railway in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
- Dierks Lumber & Coal Company #227 on static display in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
- Bonhomie & Hattiesburg Southern #300 is on static display in Hattiesburg, Mississippi right next to the Hattiesburg train station.
