History[]
BR Standard Class 6 No. 72019 "Clan Douglas" would have been one of next members in the Scottish region batch of the British Rail Standard Class 6 steam locomotives, No. 72019 would not be one of the 10 BR Standard Class 6 "Clan Class" steam locomotives built.
Why wasn't it built[]
The two reasons to why BR #72019 "Clan Douglas" wasn't built at all was because of an acute shortage of steel, this issue caused the order to be frequently postponed until the advent of the British Railways Modernization Plan had stepped in the way, this had caused the order to wind up being cancelled.
