Locomotive Wiki
Amtrak Phase III

Amtrak 145 is a special locomotive painted to celebrate Amtrak's 40th Anniversary. It was released on January 30, 2011 from the Amtrak shops in Beech Grove, Indiana. Painted in the Phase III Amtrak scheme, which Amtrak used beginning 1979, it was the first unit to begin service in special paint. Its first run occurred without much fanfare on the northbound Hoosier State. The Purdue Railroad Club was the first to capture AMTK 145 en route to Chicago from Lafayette, IN. Four other special units are planned, Amtrak 156 will be in Phase I, Amtrak 66 in Phase II, Amtrak 145 and Amtrak 822, which will run a special museum/excursion train, will be in Phase III, and Amtrak 184 will be in Phase IV.
