Amtrak's High-Speed Train Set was America's attempt at a High-Speed Train-Set, the Design for the Train-Set was proposed in the 1970s and it's Power-Car was meant to be built by the Budd Company.
Other Countries Trainsets[]
- Japan had made the Shinkansen High Speed Bullet Train.
- Alstom had made a bid and built the famous French TGVs.
- Siemens made a Bid and Built the German ICE Trains
- British Rail tried with the Advanced Passenger Train (APT) and it barely worked, but they did wind up with the more successful Class 43 HST.
Plans for the Design[]
The Power-Cars on each end were supposed to be built by the Budd Company for Amtrak, As for the passenger cars between the Two Power-Cars at each end, Amtrak would use their Amfleet Passenger Cars for each end.
Reasons to why it wasn't built[]
Amtrak barely had any money to spend for building a Train-Set and because they had a pretty big as well as a very chaotic job to deal with as they had to deal with the mess that was from what was left from the disaster of the Penn Central Transportation Company (or also known as "Penn Central"), Amtrak had to manage passenger lines in America at a time on when people weren't using the train much often, Amtrak had inherited their earlier rolling stock from the companies whose lines they took over, much that was completely different from each other, they were non-standard by default. But they were also using up money to standardize the Rail-lines with conventional diesel locomotives and some electrics.
