American Creosote Works No. 7 is an 0-4-0T built in 1917 by the Vulcan Iron Works and was originally constructed for the New York Naval Shipyard, "Brooklyn Navy Yard" #7.
This locomotive is one of several switchers bought by the US Navy to work at the Brooklyn Naval Yard in New York.
When it was retired it was Sold first to the scrap dealer Birmingham Rail & Locomotive Co., then to the American Creosote Works in Jackson, TN, as #7 in 1942, then in 1965, it was donated to the Illinois Railway Museum where it is today placed on static display.
