Alton & Southern No. 12 is an 0-8-0 switcher. It is one of only six known surviving US built three cylinder steam locomotives, and is on public display at the National Museum of Transportation.

Built by Alco in 1926 for the Alton & Southern the locomotive worked in the East St. Louis, IL, terminal, it racked up 622,626 miles as a switcher until it was retired and donated to the museum in 1948.
