History[]
Alaska Railroad No. 152 is a 4-6-0 steam locomotive built by the Baldwin locomotive works in 1920 for the U.S. Government for use on the former Tanana Valley Railroad. The line would later be acquired by the Alaskan Engineering Commission, where it was used for the construction of the Standard Gauge Alaska Railroad. It operated there until 1930, and eventually transferred by the US Army to the White Pass & Yukon Railroad, though it's unknown if the locomotive ever operated there. Not long after, it was shipped to the military facility at Auburn, WA for deposition, eventually being acquired by Hal Wilmunder for use on his tourist railroad, the Camino, Cable & Northern. However, it's also not known if the engine ever turned a wheel under it's own power there either. In 1974, the engine would be sold to Keystone Light Railway Co., who, in turn, sold it to the Genessee County Parks & Recreation Commission in 1975 for use on the Huckleberry Railroad as their #2. Restoration would be completed the following year, and has remained the primary steam power for the Huckleberry Railroad alongside Denver & Rio Grande Western K-27 #464.
