The ALCO Century 424 was a diesel-electric locomotive that was also a road switcher type locomotive. A total of 190 examples were ever constructed between April 1963 and May 1967. The C424 was intended to replace the earlier RS-27 model and offered as a lower-priced alternative version to its sister class, the C425. Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) had also built this locomotive and designated their design as MLW Century 424.

Technical Specifications[]

Regarding Technical Specifications, the C denoted that it was part of the ALCO Century Line, the 4 denoted that it had four axles, and the 24 denoted that it could generate a total of 2,400 hp (1,790 kW).
