A-Train (Advanced/Amenity/Ability/Aluminum Train) is the family name Hitachi Rail uses for their "next-generation" railcars made of an aluminum alloy. The cars were designed to cater to reduce environmental loads and reduce life cycle costs and to combat future engineer shortages.

The cars are manufactured using a double-skinned aluminum alloy to reduce weight but retain strength. Friction stir welding is used to join the various materials, in conjunction with a self-supporting interior structure. The ATI (Autonomous Train Integration System) system is also used to automate some of the functions of the trains.

The cars come in a wide variety of design styles to cater to various needs. The trains are also produced for export, with the United Kingdom being the largest export customer.
