YK8 was a 16-car 0 Series Shinkansen set operated by the Central Japan Railway Company from 1995 to September 1999.

Description[]

YK8 was formed in the mid-1990s from surplus cars from various 0 Series Shinkansen sets. YK8 began operation some time in 1995 and was withdrawn on 18 September 1999. YK8 was the final 0 Series Shinkansen set operated by the Central Japan Railway Company, running a Kodama 473 service from Tokyo to Nagoya; YK8 arrived at Nagoya at 7:24 pm. YK8 was struck off the JR Central register on 7 December 1999.

Three cars from YK8 are preserved; two are located in the SCMaglev and Railway Park while one is located at Nippon Sharyo's Toyokawa Plant.
