R67 was a 6-car 0 Series Shinkansen set operated by the West Japan Railway Company from April 2001 to November 2008.

Description[]

R67 was one of eight R-class sets formed in the early 2000s from surplus cars used to pull West Hikari services on the San'yō Shinkansen; R67 was the second to last of eight sets in this series. One car from the set was replaced in 2003. R67 began operation on 13 April 2001 and operated until 30 November 2008 in regular service; by that time the 0 Series Shinkansen cars were relegated to Kodama services, and only three sets remained in service, those being R61, R67 and R68.

R67 made its last revenue run on 30 November 2008 before being sent to Hakata General Shinkansen Depot; it was not used in revenue service on 14 December 2008, the last day of the 0 Series's operation, with R61 and R68 being used to pull the last services with the series instead. R67 was however the last of the 0 Series Shinkansen sets to run under its own power, pulling a late-night non-service train numbered 8881A from Okayama to Hakata; R67 left Okayama at 9:34 pm and arrived at Hakata at 11:40 pm. R67 was the second of the three sets to be removed from the JR West roster, being struck off on 26 December 2008.

R67 is the only set of the last three R sets where no cars have been preserved.
